Bringing culture online: learn about Giulia Pianelli and artefortuna

Introduction

In an age when blogs and social media are an integral part of our daily lives, the experience of visiting a museum or exhibition remains unparalleled. However, bringing culture online is the daily mission of some entities such as amuseapp and Progetto Pelago, which we told you about in a previous article.

A similar project is that of artefortuna, and it is this valuable initiative that we will tell you about in the article.

Giulia Pianelli with artefortuna serves as a digital bridge, igniting new passions for culture and inviting a global audience to explore museums and galleries.

Origins and passions: the beginning of Giulia Pianelli’s journey

Born in Venice and raised in a small provincial town in a family immersed in art, Giulia Pianelli has always had culture in her blood. The daughter of a middle school Art and Image teacher and an amateur painter, however, Giulia discovered her passion for art history during her fourth year of high school linguistics, thanks to her teacher.

University and work experience

The knowledge of Economics and History of Art learned at the course of study Economics and Management of Cultural Heritage at Ca’ Foscari University, allowed Giulia to face at best her first work experiences: at the Venice Film Festival, at the National Archaeological Museum of Marche, and at the C&H Gallery in Amsterdam.

After graduation, Giulia decided to specialize in marketing by attending a master’s program in Marketing and Global Markets at the University of Milan-Bicocca, while keeping busy on the job, doing a semester-long internship at StuDocu in Amsterdam and then starting a part-time position at Bending Spoons.

artefortuna: passion becomes a project

The artefortuna project was born out of Giulia’s love for art and desire to share her cultural experiences through social media. The name “artefortuna” is a loving tribute to Giulia’s grandmother, with whom she shared a love of opera. While listening together to the famous “Largo al Factotum” from the Barber of Seville, Giulia used to mix up a line of the song, turning “a te fortuna non mancherà” into “arte e fortuna non manerà.”

Having started artefortuna, allowed her to get back in touch with museums, artists, galleries, fairs, and press agencies, that context from which she had distanced herself because of her academic and work choices. She has worked as a content creator, but has also had various experiences as an independent project manager, including most recently curating (and setting up) a digital exhibition.

Synergy with amuseapp: bringing culture online

Giulia Pianelli, through artefortuna, and amuseapp share a common goal: to bring culture online, to convey a passion for art and culture to a global audience by sharing informative, exciting, original, and unique content.

The new leg of artefortuna’s journey: New Zealand and art without borders

Giulia Pianelli now finds herself in an extraordinary adventure that takes her from the province of Venice to the other side of the world, specifically to New Zealand where she continues to cultivate her passion for art by working as a freelancer and taking courses at a local art center. Currently, Giulia works full time as Marketing Coordinator at TeTuhi, a renowned contemporary art hub in Auckland. Despite her new job, Giulia will continue to run her blog artefortuna and work on other personal projects in the field of art project management.

Conclusions

Giulia Pianelli is a shining example of how personal passions can evolve into initiatives that influence the global cultural landscape. In New Zealand, Giulia continues to expand her vision by working with indigenous artists and promoting Maori and Aboriginal art on social media and on her blog. Her dream of opening a gallery in Europe dedicated to these artists underscores her commitment to art that transcends borders.

If you are an art, culture and travel enthusiast, you can’t miss her blog.
