Museums are custodians of humanity’s cultural and historical heritage. But, in a world in <\/span>continuous evolution<\/b>, even the experience of visiting requires transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n

And, if the opportunity arises to put this his <\/span>mission<\/b>, <\/span>amuseapp <\/b><\/a>immediately comes into play: this is the case of the recent path undertaken with the contribution of the<\/span>University of Padua <\/b>through the call for proposals <\/span>\u201cInnovative Student Projects-2021.\u201d<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project, dedicated to the creation and implementation of practical activities for management, communication and <\/span>museum enhancement <\/b>through new digital solutions, saw the involvement of<\/span> 3 realities <\/b>(Larin Group, the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua and the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art) and the participation of <\/span>12 students<\/b>; the <\/span>15 hours of training meetings<\/b>, the first part of this collaboration, led to the identification and implementation of two <\/span>co-designed museum itineraries<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let us see, specifically, how this common path developed.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Context analysis and problem definition<\/b><\/h3>\n

The first phase of work carried out together with the students focused on the<\/span>analysis of the current museum context<\/b> and the <\/span>problems <\/b>that currently plague it.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was clear from this study that the entire museum sector is facing <\/span>major transformations <\/b>due to new tourism trends, technological advances and socio-demographic challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

The same <\/span>ICOM <\/b>(<\/span>International Coucil of Museums<\/b>), aware of the situation, has recently <\/span>updated the very definition of a museum<\/b>, as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>A museum is a permanent non-profit institution serving society, which researches, collects, preserves, interprets and exhibits cultural heritage, tangible and intangible<\/span><\/i>\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>visitor <\/b>increasingly seeks new ways to accomplish the different <\/span>stages of the journey within the museum<\/b>, seeking a<\/span>experience that is different from the usual<\/b> and (for this reason) <\/span>memorable<\/b>. A picture also emerges in which the aging of the population is accompanied by an <\/span>Gradual increase in the rate of digital literacy<\/b> and of <\/span>connectivity<\/b>, with all the relevant consequences: generational change, the search for new stimulation and greater ability to use the most innovative technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to give <\/span>answer <\/b> to the needs that emerged from the analysis? One point from which to begin change, shared among the project’s protagonists, is given by one of the most characteristic elements of the museum visit: the <\/span>audioguide<\/b>.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Indeed, the view was shared that the ‘<\/span>evolution in a digital and experiential key<\/b> of these real cultural fossils could be the beginning of a general <\/span>revolution of the concept of visitation<\/b><\/a>: a tailor-made, personalized and engaging audio(visual) path; what is needed, therefore, is a <\/span>greater interactivity and involvement<\/b> of visitors, for a journey that must go <\/span>beyond the simple stay <\/b>inside the museum.<\/span><\/p>\n

And that is where amuseapp comes in.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The amuseapp framework: educate, enhance, retain<\/b><\/h3>\n

amuseapp<\/a> focuses on the<\/span>educating visitors before, during and after the visit<\/b>, creating <\/span>customized paths and content<\/b>. How? By educating the visitor prior to the visit, enhancing the value of the visitor’s experience, and ultimately building loyalty with the target audience. <\/span><\/p>\n

After showing each of the steps that make up this framework, amuseapp shared with students and museum the concept of <\/span>\u201cmuseum avatar\u201d<\/b>: a representation of <\/span>typical visitors<\/b>, defined by a set of characteristics (demographics, hobbies, skills, etc.) that make it possible to create an overall experience suited to each of them, which is essential to subsequently define the different stages of the <\/span>\u201cvisitor journey\u201d<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Content and artificial intelligence<\/b><\/h3>\n

During the training (and before proceeding to the co-design phase) amuseapp showed project participants the <\/span>potential offered by the integration of artificial intelligence<\/b>: through the use of <\/span>specific and well-defined prompts<\/b>, in fact, AI is able to <\/span>simplify <\/b>e <\/span>accelerate <\/b>the process of creating museum content, from textual content to audio guides. <\/span> <\/p>\n

This technology can be particularly useful in<\/span> rewriting content<\/b> to adapt it to different museum avatars, in the <\/span>multilingual translation<\/b> and in the <\/span>automatic generation of voiceovers<\/b>: in essence, AI offers enables the delivery of <\/span>accessible and engaging content<\/b> to a wide audience of visitors, modernizing and evolving the concept of audioguide and museum content.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The co-design phase<\/b><\/h3>\n

The knowledge shared to students and museum in the training hours was used not only to identify the<\/span> most useful information<\/b> and to <\/span>produce the content<\/b> to be included within the profile of the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art on amuseapp, but also to <\/span>co-design two routes dedicated to a specific target audience of visitors<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, to make the experience even more engaging, the guidance offered by the students and the museum allowed amuseapp to conduct a <\/span>shooting of the visit route with specially designed photographic shots.<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The mobile app, updated with all the <\/span>information<\/b>, the <\/span>photos <\/b>e <\/span>texts <\/b> produced during the course of the project, will allow visitors to easily access all the content<\/a> and enjoy a different museum experience than the classic one. Instead, the WebApp available to the Museum of Archaeological and Art Sciences offers the possibility of <\/span>Independently manage content and activities<\/b><\/a>, showing <\/span>useful insights <\/b>to improve and refine the visitor experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next steps<\/b><\/h3>\n

The project carried out in collaboration with the University of Padua and the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art allowed amuseapp to gather information that will prove very useful for the future of the application.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the <\/span>monitoring of access and visitor behavior<\/b>, the next steps will include the <\/span>improvement of accessibility and graphic design<\/b>, as well as the <\/span>carrying out online and offline promotional activities<\/b>. In addition, other university museums will also be included in the circuit, expanding the reach of amuseapp and contributing to the goal of involving more and more cultural institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

amuseapp: the evolution of the museum experience<\/b><\/h3>\n

amuseapp<\/a> makes the museum experience more <\/span>engaging<\/b>, <\/span>accessible <\/b>e <\/span>adapted to the needs of visitors<\/b>. Thanks to student input and collaboration between different entities, the project demonstrated how revolutionizing the way we interact with our cultural heritage is within everyone’s reach.<\/span><\/p>\n

By expanding the number of museums involved, now more than 250, amuseapp will be able to<\/span> enrich the knowledge of more and more people<\/b>, helping to preserve and enhance Italy’s extraordinary historical and artistic heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
